Travel information

Tata is small, resort town on the side of a lake, about 70km outside of Budapest.

Fencers should book their own flights, or we can book them, but you will need to pay in full at time of booking.

We will arrange coach transport from the airport to Tata, at a very modest cost (around £5 pounds a head).  If we have to arrange two coaches, the cost per head will rise to around £10 return.

NB  Flights get more expensive closer to the time, you should book early!!  There are no very cheap flights to Budapest at this time of year, expect to pay from £100 upwards.  You may pay extra for sports’ bags on the budget airlines.

We will be spending a day in Budapest.  The cost of the return coach is very modest.  We have our own guide and translator, Tamas Kovacs, now working at LTFC, but formerly of Honved in Budapest, one of the most famous fencing clubs in the world, home to many current and former world and Olympic champions.

Many British fencers are now training regularly in Budapest, to take advantage of the excellent fencing, the low cost of living, and cheap accommodation.
